About the Association

Alumni of Mining Engineers (Osmania & Kakatiya Universities) Association, Kothagudem

Who We Are

The Association is a voluntary body of the mining engineering graduates of the Kothagudem School of Mines (KSM). Registered in 2012 (Regd. No. 6/2012), it is now governed by the Telangana Societies Registration Act, 2001.

Its members hold senior technical and managerial positions in the mineral industry, academia and government, in India and abroad.

Objectives

  • Continuous improvement of mining education.
  • Professional development of mining engineers.
  • Closer interaction between the mining industry and academia.
  • Close ties among alumni of all batches and with the institution.

Our Heritage

  1. 1956Department of Mining Engineering established at the University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
  2. Kothagudem School of MinesDepartment relocated to the Singareni coalfield at Kothagudem for hands-on field training, and named the Kothagudem School of Mines.
  3. 1976Kakatiya University formed on 19th August 1976; KSM transferred to it and renamed University College of Engineering, KU.
  4. 1979First batch of mining engineers graduates from Kothagudem.
  5. TodayUpgraded into Dr. Manmohan Singh Earth Sciences University, Kothagudem.
  6. 2026Golden Jubilee of mining education at Kothagudem.
